Strategic creation of the COO office unites commercial and project delivery operations to support rapid regional growth

INDIANAPOLIS – Nov. 1, 2026 – Toyota Automated Logistics (TAL), a global partner for integrated warehouse automation, today appointed Matt Kuper as the organization’s inaugural Chief Operating Officer, Americas. Bringing 27 years of intralogistics experience, Kuper will unify the business’ Commercial and Solution Delivery divisions under one operational structure.

As TAL Americas continues its rapid expansion as a global partner for integrated warehouse automation, the unified leadership structure is designed to translate corporate vision into seamless execution while driving process efficiency, cross-functional alignment, and organizational growth. Kuper will oversee daily internal operations across both divisions to align solution engineering with floor execution, driving process efficiency and cross-functional performance across North and South America.

“As our business scales in complexity, creating tight alignment between how we architect customer solutions and how we execute them on the floor is essential,” said Aaron M. Jones, CEO, Americas, Toyota Automated Logistics. “Matt brings a rare depth of experience, having spent nearly three decades mastering every phase of project delivery and commercial strategy. His practical approach, commitment to accountability, and focus on operational excellence make him the ideal leader to drive our internal operations forward.”

Kuper’s comprehensive, floor-up background gives him a unique lens on the operational realities, ROI drivers, and engineering precision required to deliver complex automation deployment. He began his career as a project engineer, before advancing through hands-on field and leadership roles—including site supervision, project management, account management, and large-systems sales. Most recently, Kuper served as Head of Commercial for TAL Americas.

“I’m honored to take on this expanded role at such a transformative moment for Toyota Automated Logistics,” said Matt Kuper, COO, Americas. “Automating a distribution facility is never just about a single piece of technology; it’s about solving real operational challenges and building a reliable, long-term foundation for our customers. By unifying our commercial and delivery teams, we are giving our people clearer goals, stronger coordination, and the tools they need to execute flawlessly on behalf of the brands that trust us.”

The organizational integration supports the company's guiding principle—for every challenge, a reliable solution—by drawing on the 285-year combined legacy of Bastian Solutions, Vanderlande’s warehousing business, and viastore under parent company Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO).
